Blythe Meadow

blyth meadow

This grassland is an excellent example of unimproved meadow in a tranquil valley setting. It is the only site in Suffolk for lady’s mantle – a plant with small greenish flowers and cloak-like leaves. The unusual mix of other wildflowers includes green-winged orchid, heath spotted orchid, moonwort fern, quaking grass and many sedges.

To conserve this lovely range of wild plants and flowers, the site is regularly grazed by cattle in summer.

Blythe Meadow is privately owned. For access please contact Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
