The Shop at Lackford
Lackford Lakes Visitor Centre was built
in 2002 and is one of three visitor centres for Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
The Visitor centre has a range of facilities to enhance your visit to
Lackford Lakes including an information desk, gift shop, viewing
gallery, light refreshments and toilets (including a disabled access
The first and ground floor viewing areas offer
stunning views across the Nature Reserve and bird feeding station and
provide a way to enjoy the reserve without the need for a long walk. As
well as providing a great vantage point for the feeding stations, the
viewing gallery also hosts a children's corner with reading and
reference books, colouring pages and a gallery of visiting children's
The circular kingfisher trail (approx 1km) is
suitable for wheelchair/ pushchair users and almost all hides have
wheelchair access. The centre has its own mobility buggy for visitors to
use (it is advisable to give us a ring if you would like to book this
facility). Binoculars and wildlife explorer backpacks are available to
borrow from the centre to enhance your visit.

A separate education room provides additional facilities for school visits, children's birthday parties, adult courses and a wide range of holiday and family wildlife events. The education room is also availabe for hire for meetings, please contact the Centre Co-ordinator for more information on centre hire.
There is no charge to visit Lackford
lakes, but we hope you will choose to make a donation or to join Suffolk
Wildlife Trust to help us to maintain the reserve.
Visitor Centre opening times:
The Centre is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am-4pm from 1st
November to 31st March and 10am- 5pm from 1st April to 31 November,
including bank holidays throughout the year.
The reserve and hide network are open from dawn to dusk every day.
To avoid disturbance to wildlife no dogs, fishing or cycling permitted on reserve.
