Please find below a list of upcoming events & activities at Lackford Lakes. As I’m sure you will appreciate, we have to limit the number of participants to most of the activities & as a result many fill up quickly. If you find yourself unable to make an event you are booked into, please do let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer the place to someone else.

Sat 6th NATURALLY ART WORKSHOP – Glittertastic! - Making stained glass windows and decorations using mirror tiles, glitter and tissue paper

(C) £3  10.30am-12.30pm,  For 5-10+ years, all abilities.  Bring an old shirt.  Pre-book! 

Sun 7th   WINTER Birds FOR BEGINNERS. Adult Course, led by Paul Holness (A) £15 10am-4pm. Bring a packed lunch & wear outdoor gear. Bring or borrow binoculars. For the less experienced birder Pre-book on 01473 892430. Full payment required at time of booking.

Sun 14th WILDLIFE WATCH CLUB – ‘Christmas party!’  for 6-11yrs  50p  2-4pm Wear outdoor gear. Pre book!

Mon 22nd TIGERS IN TROUBLE! – Activity morning for 4 – 7 yrs. £3   10.30am – 12.30pm. Find out about tigers in danger around the world with crafts, games and activities. Wear outdoor gear and bring a waterproof. Pre book!

Tues 23rd ANIMALS IN DANGER! – Activity day for 8-12 years. £5  10.30 – 2.30pm. Find out about animals facing extinction across the world today. Follow the plight of the tiger, panda and orang-utan. Wear outdoor gear and bring a waterproof and packed lunch. Pre – Book!

 

Christmas opening hours at Lackford Lakes


The Visitor Centre will be closed for Christmas on the 25th – 26th December (we will be open on Christmas eve). We will then reopen on the 27th and 28th December and on the 31st
December and the 1st January. From the 2nd January we will be open wed-sun as usual.
The Nature Reserve will be open as usual from dawn until dusk over the festive period.

Thurs 1st  NEW YEAR BIRD WALKS. 10.30am – 12.30pm and 2pm - 4pm. £3. Bring or borrow binoculars. *No need to book – places filled on a first come first served basis*

 

FEBRUARY


Mon 2nd  WORLD WETLANDS DAY GUIDED WALK. 10.30am – 12.30pm. Take a walk around the reserve with a knowledgeable guide and identify wetland birds £3 Bring or borrow binoculars. Pre book!

Sat 14th  FAMILY BIRD BOX BUILDING DAY - £5/box 10.30am-12.30pm and 2pm - 4pm Make your own wooden nest box and lard cake to take home. All ages, adult supervision for under 12s. Please bring a yoghurt pot Pre-book!


Tues 17th  ACTIVITY MORNING - Woodland skills - for 4-7 year olds. Build shelters, hunt for minibeasts, follow a mud face trail and make a tree sprite. 10.30am - 12.30pm. £3. Wear warm, outdoor gear. Pre-book!


Tues 17th  FROM GRAVEL PITS TO NATURE RESERVE FAMILY AFTERNOON - follow the Lackford history trail and borrow a wildlife backpack to explore the reserve on your way around. Return to the centre for craft activities. 2-3.30pm £1 per person. Wear warm, outdoor gear. Pre-book!


Thurs 19th ACTIVITY DAY – Survival skills - practice shelter building, water purification and build a tree house! 10.30am-2.30pm for 8-12 yrs. £5. Wear outdoor gear. Bring packed lunch & drink. Pre-book!


Fri 20th YOUNG WARDENS - Coppicing - for 10-15 year olds. £4. 10am - 1pm wear outdoor clothes and bring a filling for a jacket potato (potato will be cooked on our bonfire). Pre-book!
